Radio GaGa

Those who've known me for a while most likely also know my addiction to various radio program(me)s both here and back in the UK.  It all stems from a rather odd 6 months of my life working in a plastics factory and relying on BBC Radio 4 to survive the tedium - God bless Radio 4!

Well, now there's a fun-sounding competition over here to find the 'next Public Radio Host'

and guess who is currently concocting his entry???
I know, I know - it's a silly enterprise but, well, one which I'm quite excited about.  So, I'll put something together this week, then you have to go and vote for me.  Or create your own pitch and compete against me. Or neither...  All good fun, regardless :)

"You can't get there from here"

It's one of my favourite Pittsburgh phrases - and it's sadly often the case  Sometimes, you just can't get there from where you are...

And I would have said the same is true of trying to get to, let's say, my sister's house in Bournemouth from my house in Pittsburgh - I mean, it's not like you could just do a GoogleMap and find your way.

OR COULD YOU???

Rest in Peace Jackie Chan Jackie Chan passed away at 6:45 this evening on the final journey he was to make.As dignified a hamster as ever there was, he chose to take his last breath before we stepped into the vet's clinic, saving us the worry of a less civilized death. Interesting new(ish) website happened my way during a presentation we were given at the PSO the other day:  TalkShoe
"And what is it?" you ask...

From the website's About page:

TalkShoe™ is the brain child of Dave Nelsen, who spent his career in the telecommunications and software industries. Dave observed that there is no good way to find, connect with, and talk to interesting and like-minded people wherever they are.    Sure, there are chat rooms, but they often deteriorate into useless jabberwocky. There's IM, but it’s just text. Then there's the phone, but finding new people to talk to is not practical.

Thus was born TalkShoe™ — a new way to talk with interesting people with similar interests around the world.

Seems pretty cool, so I might just have to play around with it later this weekend!  If you're interested, there's a pretty good video introduction here.
